Arms of Hope Announces Plans for Dallas Campus to Assist Homeless Families
DALLAS, TEXAS — Arms of Hope is pleased to announce its plans to initiate a pilot residential program for single-mother families in Dallas County. The Arms of Hope Urban Together Program Project will focus on assisting families struggling to escape homelessness, poverty or abuse by helping motivated single mothers and their children transition into successful, independent futures. “Single-mother families are the fastest growing component of our state’s rapidly growing homeless population,” stated Kevin McDonald, Arms of Hope’s President & Chief Executive Officer. “Arms of Hope has been focused on identifying the right opportunity to expand our Together Program to meet the needs of single mothers and their children in the Dallas area who are struggling to find hopeful futures.”
This project is made possible by a partnering arrangement with Grace Place Properties (“GPP”), a ministry organization affiliated with the Duncanville Church of Christ. Arms of Hope will lease townhouses within facilities owned by GPP in Duncanville for the Arms of Hope Urban Together Program Project, and GPP will further support the project by providing a day care program, mentoring and spiritual support for the families enrolled in the program. “Partnering with Arms of Hope is a special opportunity for us,” stated Stek Steck, Executive Director of GPP. “Because of our combined commitment to make a difference and proven track record of assisting families in need, we are confident this project will change lives for the better.”
Amber Milner, Together Program Director at Arms of Hope – Boles Campus will be overseeing this urban pilot program and will work closely with the directors of GPP, Stek and Anita Steck, as they manage the properties and deliver ministry to at-risk women.
Arms of Hope Urban Together Program Project will support eleven single-mother families from the Dallas – Fort Worth area this fall, in addition to the more than 50 families already supported by the Arms of Hope Together Program at other Arms of Hope facilities.
